Introducing
Jeff McCredie

Originally from Havertown, PA, Jeff McCredie has been drawing, painting and sculpting since he was three years old. A graduate of Haverford High School, he studied at the Allgates Alternative Art Facility for several years. As a Fulbright Scholar to Germany, he studied art and was a copyist in major museums in Germany, France and Italy. He has also studied art and figure painting apprenticeships at the Corcoran School of Art in Washington, D.C. and the Art League of Alexandria, VA (The Torpedo Factory).

Jeff was greatly influenced by late 19th century European and American painters, and incorporates some of their techniques in his work. He works primarily in oil, watercolor and acrylics, as well as mixed media and terra cotta. Claude Monet once said “I paint because of flowers” and Jeff McCredie is a student of Monet’s conception of light and composition, particularly in water scenes.

A former Foreign Service Officer, Jeff traveled and painted in South East Asia, China, Russia, Europe, the Middle East and Africa. He has been represented by galleries locally, and in Europe, Washington, D.C, and Los Angeles, CA. While painting in Europe, he sold works to many business people, professionals and collectors. In Washington, D.C, he sold works to White House Staffers, and high ranking government employees, such as Ambassadors and Agency Heads. He has also sold works to U.S. Ambassadors and Foreign Service personnel overseas and the former Minister of National Security and Justice for Jamaica. While based in California, he specialized in seascapes and desert scenes, having sold numerous works to art patrons of the greater Los Angeles area.

Jeff has much to offer his students and you can take advantage of his experience right here at Tyme Gallery.

Photography Portfolio Reviews

by

Richard Johnson

This needs to be your year!!!!

Take your photography to the next level. Find your strengths and weaknesses. Everyone has both!!! This year’s Photography Expo was the hardest ever to be juried in. Usually 40 to 50 photographers enter, this year there were 76. There were over 200 entries and only 50 photographs were accepted. Almost everyone who took the review last year was accepted into the exhibition. Ken Goodfellow our first place winner this year took the review and stated he followed Richard’s instructions to the letter.

Testimonial by Photographer Ken Goodfellow
Ken took the class March 29th, 2009

“It was a pleasure to work with Mr. Johnson on my portfolio review, never having one before it was well worth the time spent. The review of my images before meeting Richard was an added bonus since he already had an understanding of what I was presenting, and had completed written material for me to go over.

Richard’s communication of what should be worked on to present portfolios, besides discussing the images, was very detailed and knowledge worth learning. I would highly recommend a review as lessons learned for me from a technical and business perspective can be put into practice immediately”.

So if you really want to step up-join in and take the review.

Richard Johnson

Richard A. Johnson is a black and white landscape photographer who uses panoramic and large format cameras to capture the natural beauty of Eastern and Southwestern United States.

In the last twenty years, Richard has created twenty black & white portfolios, been involved in over 60 one person and group exhibitions, and has been featured in several prominent publications on photography such as Lenswork, Lenswork Extended Journal, Black and White Magazine UK and the Photographer’s Formulary Online Newsletter. Richard’s work is held in numerous private and public institutional collections throughout the country.

Richard A. Johnson was born and raised in the city of Philadelphia, and currently resides in Newtown Square, Pennsylvania. Mr. Johnson continues to teach various courses on traditional & digital photography at Delaware County Community College, where he has worked for over 15 years. He was awarded Excellence In Teaching in 2006. Richard’s recent accomplishments include being selected as an Artist in Residence by the Philadelphia Museum of Art, and also by Pennsylvania Department of Education for a solo exhibition in 2008.

So Come to Tyme Gallery for a professional portfolio review with Richard Johnson. There is a limit of 8 people per session and 3 seats are already taken. The review is Sunday March 14th starting at 12:30 pm. The cost is only $30.00. Advance registration is a must and jpgs or slides of images to be reviewed must also be presented in advance. Light refreshments will be provided. Please call 610-853-1215 or email madametyme@tymegallery.com for registration or additional questions. Tyme Gallery is located at 17 W. Eagle Road in Havertown.

“A Call For Artists”

In just a few months Tyme Gallery will be 13 years old and Tyme is calling for artists for their 13th Annual Juried Exhibition, “Inner Essence”. Tyme Gallery continues to be the only for profit gallery in Bucks, Chester, Delaware and Montgomery County to offer a juried exhibition to the general public.

The gallery continues to accept 2d media and relief work. Due to a limitation in space, sculpture, while displayed and sold in the gallery, will not be accepted for this exhibition. Paintings, drawings, photography, hand pulled and digital prints are allowed, but please, no laser prints or studies. First prize is a solo exhibition. Last year there were over 300 entries, so the gallery is limiting the size of the work to permit more artists the ability to exhibit. There have been entries from all five local counties as well as New York, New Jersey, Delaware, Illinois, Florida and even an entry from Venezuela.

The jurors this year are award winning artists; Steve Oliver, Paulette Bensignor, Shobha Meno and Lisa Pauciello-Rowe.

Collette Katz

our newest psychic Grimm

Carolyn, The Tarot Muse

Kathee The Mystic Reader

And of course Celeste!!!!

On Saturday, October 30th, from 11:00 to 4:00 pm Tyme Gallery will hold their Tenth Annual Psychic Fair. There will be fun for everyone with tarot card readings, channeling, a costume contest for children, free chair massages by Havertown Chiropractic and Wellness Center and of course the artwork of over 200 artists that line the walls of Tyme Gallery. So come and relax, have your cards read, or ask that question that has been bothering you. The fair takes place right in the gallery. Admission to the gallery is free with a small fee for a reading. There will also be free light refreshments and of course the free chair massages.

Tyme’s psychics include: Grimm Brightstave, who is new to the gallery; Carolyn Guss, The Tarot Muse; Kathee, the international psychic and Colette Katz, holistic healer and spiritual advisor and Celeste Mattia Tyme’s favorite.
Celeste Mattia; who is a certified Tarot reader medium, psychic, channeler, and astrologer. She has been on both radio and television. Mattia has been a psychic counselor for over 20 years with a specialty in contacting passed over friends and relatives, as well as solving current love and financial concerns. Celeste teaches classes in metaphysics, psychic development, astrology and Tarot. She is also a certified Reiki Healer.
Grimm Brightstave has been a reader since the day he was born. Gifted with very strong empathic senses he was naturally drawn to the mystical as a young child. Grimm is a holistic healer and spiritual advisor. He started reading professionally at the Pennsylvania Renaissance Faire from 1982 to 1985 and has most recently been a reader at Harry’s Occult Shop in South Philadelphia until 2006. He reads Rune Cards, palms, and auras.

Carolyn Guss, also known as the Tarot Muse, is a certified professional Tarot reader and instructor (National Tarot Certification Board) who has been working with the cards for nearly three decades. Carolyn is also a member of the American Tarot Association (and the former International Tarot Society), she has been reading and teaching the Tarot professionally since 1990. Along with Carolyn’s private clientele, she have served as the Tarot reader for Barnes & Noble’s “An Evening with Anne Rice” and as a reader and columnist for the New Age Directory website. Her articles on Tarot have appeared in Yoga Living magazine and I have been featured in Main Line Life.

Kathee will provide a clear, concise, and empathic reading. With her clairaudient, clairsentient, and empathic abilities, Kathee can feel the emotions of other people in your life and is able to help you work through the karma of your relationships through spirit guidance. Her ability to see the true potential in people helps her to assist others in seeing the potential in every aspect of their lives…self, relationships, career, spirituality, choices, obstacles, events, people, etc., that will have a bearing on the present and future; helping people to be aware of how to change negative situations, actions, or trains of thought that may affect their future; turning situations into positive life lessons thus learning to move with the cosmic flow.

Colette: Born in Quebec, Canada, now living in Merion PA, Colette have been a psychic all of her life, and a tarot reader for the past 30 years. The gift passes to her by way of her mother, and from her mother before. Colette is deeply involved on a spiritual path, and prays for guidance every day.

Her readings provide useful guidance for everyday life, times of crisis, spiritual growth, relationships and business dealings. After a reading, people feel they have the direction and tools needed to embrace their life and a sense of peace in making their decisions. Many diverse people come for readings: the businessman in Grand Cayman who checks prior to making any deals; the geologist in the northwest who consults with her before she leaves on an exploration trip; many women, unsure about the path they should follow when in the midst of making very personal decisions ...there are so many who have come and left with heartfelt appreciation for the guidance they received.

The joy, compassion and love Colette feels when she is reading she is also communicated and nourishes the hearts and souls of all during the session.

Dr. Todd May has been a practicing chiropractor for 17 years. His Havertown Chiropractic and Wellness Center will provide the free chair massages. Dr May works with patients of various needs, including, acute and chronic pain, sports injuries, and wellness care.

So come and meet the psychics, receive a free massage and don’t forget the costume contest. Also, not to forget the free refreshments and the artwork that line the walls of the gallery. If you come the fair is Saturday October 30th 11:00 to 4:00 pm. Come ask your question and see the splendor that is Tyme Gallery.
